Peterboro Shank Co., Ca. 1900

Brian Hackert, Reference Librarian at the Peterboro Town Library posted this on Facebook on Friday, November 8, 2013.  Thanks, Brian!. "Muffie brought in this old business form with a great picture of the Peterboro Shank Company, which made steel inserts for shoe soles. It was located where River St. is now, on Main St. across from Vine St., near the corner with Elm. As usual, it's hard to picture these old industrial buildings in spaces they wouldn't seem to have fit."

Peterboro Shank Co. factory in the expanded complex that began as the "Bell Factory" many years before (see the historic sign that's there now). Note foot bridge used by workers who lived on other side of Nubanusit River.
